Podcast 015, with Andie, Renee, Luis, and Drew

April 29, 2010

Orgy, or podcast? Let’s just say a little bit of both as Andie Bolt, Renee Colvert, Luis Cortes and Drew Coolidge all join me for a totally heated (and totally hot) conversation about movies with large ensemble casts. Buckle up guys, this one’s gonna be good…

There Will Be Spoilers, Episode 015

Notes:

This turned out to be a slightly shorter episode, but I think that’s a good thing cause shit can get pretty crazy with 5 improv people in a room. Definitely didn’t anticipate this many guests, but as soon as I knew how many were coming, I knew just what we could talk about.

Also, someone mentioned another sing-along scene we missed, but I can’t think of it right now… maybe you know?

Podcast 014, with Justin Haacke

April 26, 2010

Yeeaaaaa, Justin Haacke is baacke! This time, we take a look at film length and answer the age old question, “Does Size Matter?” We also fuck around with the TWBS format and introduce some movie games, along with my first attempt at intentionally spoiling a movie.

Notes:

Sorry for the screaming during the movie games… we got a little into it.

Also, I think Justin’s first show (#005) is now the #1 most downloaded, so if you haven’t checked it out already, give it a listen. Check out the other shows too while you’re at it. It’s not like I’m only funny when Justin is on.

Podcast 013, with Chris Paschall

April 22, 2010

Chris Paschall joins me in a conversation about everything from why Predator is a badass, to why vampires are allergic to spermicidal lube. Underrated Badguys and Best Action Sequences are the general topics, but I may as well tell you now: Steven Segal will not leave unscathed.

There Will Be Spoilers, Episode 013

Note to self: Never, EVER do a T-Rex impression. I should seriously edit some of this shit out.

Other notes:

Damnit, I totally slacked on the research and fucked up MULTIPLE film references in this one. *sigh* I don’t want to spoil the episode*, there are lots of problems, but the one I absolutely must correct is that in the Japense film Battle Royale, the most evil character ever is named Mitsuko, NOT Megumi. Megumi gets fucking tasered and sickle-slashed… by Mitsuko.  Big difference.

*this is irony, right?

Podcast 012, with Bob Hildebrand

April 19, 2010

Bob Hildebrand returns to the show, and brings a bit of controversy by recalling the time I “sold him out” in college.  Between no less than five shots of Jack Daniels and stories about Go-Go Dancers, I try to keep the show on track by having Bob rate films based on how American he thinks they are.

Notes:

Apologies for the one skip in audio right at the beginning. I promise you, all that cuts out is the rest of the word “Bob”.  I could go back and fix it, but then you wouldn’t have a show to listen to today.

All the other pops you hear is Bob slamming his beer bottle on the counter next to my microphone. I’ve made a note to remind all future guests not to do this, so hopefully this is the last of that.

Also, we never did come up with a better name for The America Scale. Suggestions?

Podcast 011, with Joel Sinensky

April 15, 2010

The #1 MOST DOWNLOADED GUEST, Joel Sinensky, returns to prove he’s still the same massively-popular ratings mega-booster he once was. Join us for this extended episode as we dive into movies that don’t hold up after the first viewing, memorable movie trailers, and why film “critic” Pete Hammond should go to hell.

There Will Be Spoilers, Episode 011

Notes:

I should have corrected Joel… it’s KROQ, not KROC (duh). Also, I think I made a few other mistakes of my own, but it’s tough to stay 100% accurate when you’re drunk you don’t edit shit out. BTW, TWBS is totally available on iTunes now. Just go to the iTunes store, search There Will Be Spoilers, and click Subscribe!

You’ll see, as I did, that there is already some other dude who has the same title as my show, only he puts three exclamation points at the end so you know it MUST be funny. I genuinely tried to pick a show with an original title, and actually I have no clue why my search results didn’t pull up his show the first time I searched for it. Oh well, in a single month I’ve recorded about 4x as many shows as he did in three months. But go ahead and subscribe to his too though, then I won’t feel so bad.

Oh shit people, new theme song! Thought it could be fun to mix a new one together every 10 eps since they don’t really take me too long to make and they’re fun to do. Thoughts?

Podcast 010, with Rebecca Lauren

April 11, 2010

My little sister and I recorded a podcast just after Rebecca’s first day at the shooting range. Feel the adrenaline as we discuss movie musicals, a possible relation to a mildly famous movie actress, and why our dad is obsessed with Galaxy Quest.

Notes:

The audio is a bit quiet… SOMEONE needs to learn how to project better 😉

And sincere apologies to Sarah Jessica Parker. You don’t deserve the beating you get in this one.

Also, special thanks to Firing-Line in Northridge for giving us free lane and gun rental.  That other customer was being a douchebag, and you were right for not letting him fire a gun that day.

Podcast 009, with Robbie Starr

April 8, 2010

Robbie Starr returns to wrap up our trilogy discussion from Episode 003. We also talk about scientific accuracy, and animal films (CUTE!!). Did you know Koko the Talking Sign Language Gorilla has a nipple fetish? Yeah, we totally wikipedia’d that shit.

Notes:

When I said I saw Exorcist 2, I’ve realized after the fact that I actually saw Amityville Horror 2 (thanks Hulu!). See, the movie is sort of like a combination of both films, so it’s an easy mistake to make. I don’t actually suggest you see either of these films– but actually I guess really I’ve never seen Exorcist 2, so it could actually be good. It’s probably not though. Go watch Deep Blue Sea instead. Samuel L. Jackson gets eaten by a shark. Seriously. That movie is way better than it should be.
