My first guest ever (Joel Sinensky) joins me at my first recording studio ever (my parents’ backyard) to look back on the movies that make us feel nostalgic. We also discuss the various ways nostalgia is dealt with in film, which ultimately allows us to compare the ending of The Godfather to Sweet Home Alabama.

There Will Be Spoilers, Episode 119
Notes:
Two other movies I would have liked to have discussed: First, Casablanca, which I would have brought up in the show but I felt like I was talking to much. If the theme song “As Times Goes By” doesn’t imply characters feeling nostalgic for a lost time, then perhaps the uber-famous line “We’ll always have Paris” will sell it to ya.
I also would have loved to discuss The Artist, but I didn’t see it until after this ep was recorded. Another great example of filmmakers (and at times characters) thinking back to simpler times.
